About InstaCommentPickers

InstaCommentPickers is a free Instagram comment picker. You paste a public post or Reel link, set your entry rules, and it draws a random winner from the comments. This page explains why it exists, how the draw actually works, and what you can check for yourself.

Why this tool exists

Most comment pickers are free until they are not. You paste a link, the tool loads some comments, and then it asks you to create an account or pay before it will show the winner. That is a bad moment to hit a paywall, because by then the giveaway has already been announced.

This tool removes that moment. There is no account, no paid tier and no cap on draws. You paste a public post link, you see the post, you draw a winner, and nothing asks you to sign up to find out who won.

How the random winner is actually chosen

The draw runs in your own browser, not on a server. It starts from a seed: the SHA-256 hash of the canonical post link, every rule you set, a fresh random nonce, and the id of every comment that passed your rules, in order. That seed drives a small deterministic random number generator (sfc32), which drives a partial Fisher–Yates shuffle over the eligible entries. The first names off the shuffle are the winners; the next ones are the backups.

Because the seed is a function of the inputs, the same post, rules, nonce and entry list always produce the same winner. That is what makes the draw verifiable rather than merely trusted: publish the nonce shown on the receipt alongside the post link and your rules, and anyone can recompute the seed and land on the same result. Change any input and the seed, and the winner, change with it.

The nonce itself comes from the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), so nobody, including us, can steer it.

  • The winner is drawn client-side, in your browser, from a seed you can recompute
  • Every eligible entry has exactly the same probability; follower count, likes and timing play no part
  • Winners and backups come from one continuous shuffle, so a backup is simply the next name that would have won
  • Nothing about the result is stored on our side, so nobody can go back and change it

What the entry rules do

Before anything is drawn, the comments are sorted oldest first and each rule is applied in turn. A required hashtag is matched as a whole tag, so #win does not accept #winner. A required keyword is a plain case-insensitive match. The tag-a-friend rule counts distinct @mentions, so tagging the same account twice counts once. One entry per person keeps the earliest comment from each account and drops the rest, keyed on the account id where Instagram provides one. Exclude the host drops comments written by the post's own account.

Every rule defaults to letting the whole comment section through, so a host who ignores the rules panel still gets a valid draw.

What it reads, and what it does not

The tool reads top-level comments on a public post through a third-party data provider, up to a fixed number of pages per draw. It does not read replies nested under comments, and it cannot read anything on a private account. Comments are read in the order Instagram returns them, so on posts with thousands of comments the later ones may not enter the pool. Within the pool every entry is treated identically.

Re-drawing does not re-read the post. The comments are fetched once per post and every draw after that runs entirely in your browser, which is why there is no limit on how many times you can draw.

What this tool does not do

It does not post on your behalf, follow anyone, like anything or touch your account in any way. It never asks for your Instagram password and has no permission to act as you. It only ever reads what is already public on the post you paste.

Who runs it

The operator of InstaCommentPickers is independent of Instagram and Meta Platforms, Inc. Instagram is a trademark of its owner; this site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by it.

There are no ads, no sponsored winners and no accounts. The tool needs a link to a public post and nothing about you.
